Story Telling Photography will make your work stand out.
To create a photograph that tells a story you have to as always plan what that story is going to be. One must think of the connection they want their viewer to make with it. How much of the story is going to be told and how much will be left up to the viewer to guess.
In this composite image I made, I took numerous different photographs and through layer masking in Photoshop creating one image to portray a dream world that is still in the making. I decided to add in some details like the construction sign to let the viewer know what was going on because if not, then I don’t think my concept would have been portrayed well enough. Story Telling Photography can engage emotion in a viewer or cause them to think more about the photograph. Erik Johansson is amazing with this and has truly inspired with his work.
My own composite is one the first I have done so they are not nearly as good as his but I suggest you check out his work here.
