I shot a great Idaho fall engagement session a little over a month ago!

While I’ve worked with families and individuals doing portraiture work and such this was my first official engagement shoot. Kristi was a friend that I had photographed her and her roommates before and she sought me out to shoot her engagements which was so flattering. October was a crazy month for me with many of the trips and excursions I had going on because I was out of town for most of it. We had originally planned to do the shoot later in the month after I got back from my excursions but one week the leaves were looking so pretty and we weren’t sure they were going to last for another 2 weeks so we went out on a wimb and made a time for the next day to go shoot (the night before I’d leave for all my excursions).

Now before you think that I just randomly shot an engagement session with a nights planning let me explain that it wasn’t quite like that. Krisit and I met up earlier on Oct. 3rd around 7:30pm to discuss pricing, what each package would include, style of photography, and some terms for shooting. She had mentioned that she really wanted to get beautiful fall colors in her photos and living in the town we do there wasn’t much. We discussed locations that would take 30-60 minutes to travel to. We also discussed sharing a Pinterest board and photos to help with posing and getting her desired look. I explained that I’d need one to two weeks to deliver the photos and we agreed on this.

The shoot itself went well. Kristi chose the standard package for $150 which would be an hour long session with 20 edits. As explained earlier it took place a lot sooner than expected. The shoot ended up happening on Oct. 10. We carpooled together at 5:00 pm so we could get up near the canyon around 5:30 and the sun would be setting around 7. This was a little early for sunset but it worked out well. We were able to find multiple spots to shoot at the location. We had shared some Pinterest ideas before but most of the poses ended up being spontaneous or lightly posed. I found out I love photographing engagements because the couple just has an energy and love that vibes off each other making them so easy to photograph! With so much love in the air how can you not get great pictures.

This Idaho fall engagement, really was awesome and I’m so glad chose me to photograph this beginning of a journey together! Due to the fact that we went to shoot on a wimb the day before I’d be traveling to 4 different excursions. Due to wanting to edit them well and not completely sleep deprived I wasn’t able to deliver the photos in a week as I had hoped (because earlier is always better) when we first planned the shoot. I did however deliver them in 12 days on the Oct. 22 (within the 1-2 week period we had discussed) which I felt much better with so I could take the time needed to make quality edits. I delivered 22 digital images to her and her fiance and they liked them a lot! Here are some more of my favorite from those beautiful fall engagements photos!
