I photographed the car ice I found on top of the roof!
A couple nights ago I went out to my car go to grocery shopping with my roommates and because I have a short car I saw the roof of it covered in this beautiful ice pattern. I know, sounds weird, but it was seriously so cool and detailed that I had to capture it. I think we all have noticed cool textures that ice can make on a windshield and other surfaces but have we taken the time to really look how detailed they are?
It was pretty dark in the parking lot and there were just a few street lights on which made it rough to get a good picture without extra lighting. I decided to grab my external flash but found it to be dead, with no other option I decided to use what all professionals tell you not to, the flash on my camera. I knew this wouldn’t come out very good unless I diffused the light some how so I went through my car and found a little blue sticky note that seemed perfect. The blue would give ice that nice tent and the sticky note was light enough the light would diffuse well with the car ice. I tried to get multiple angles and perspectives because this stuff really was amazing in the fine detail. I’m really pleased with how the photos came out!
A cool photographer online also has a cool ice picture. His name is Bryan Hansel!
Dang this is sick! Well done. Honestly, I think that having less light made for better pics.
Check out some of my macro shots.

Wow, Cynthia! This is awesome! Way to be creative and resourceful with the lighting too. I bet you could submit some of these as stock photos. Here are some examples by Getty Images: http://www.gettyimages.com/photos/frost?excludenudity=true&sort=mostpopular&mediatype=photography&phrase=frost
